Biography

I've lived in the North East since 1990. Initially the move up here from Hull with my then boyfriend was to go to Newcastle University. But the busy and varied nightlife of Tyne and Wear was addictive. So we stayed. 22 years and over 400 gigs later we are still enjoying life here. Live music, live comedy, live theatre, we're spoilt for choice round here.

Housed in the former 4th Northumberland Fusiliers headquarters is a collection of cars marking landmark moments in motoring history in Newburn Hall Motor Museum. Finding the museum can be a challenge, as there is little in the way of signage..a waste of money …

North East Book Review: The Hippo-Chronos by Matt Ritson

On a trip to Sunderland recently, my husband, my son and I wandered into Waterstones and perused the shelves looking for something inspiring for our son (9) to read. After persuading him that the Lemony Snicket series might to be his taste we headed for the checkout. We then noticed a gentleman with a pile …

‘Utopia’ at the Live Theatre, Newcastle: A search for perfection

I went to the opening night of Utopia on Thursday 31st May, with very little knowledge of what I was letting myself in for. “6 characters in a world of blueprints search for Utopia”. These characters, childlike, inquisitive and full of hope, present a number of human ideas for a perfect world. Each one is …
