Evolution Emerging takes over Newcastle, 24th May

Evolution Emerging 2014 is getting closer! On Saturday 24th May40 artists play across 9 venues in the Ouseburn ValleyNewcastle.

Now in its sixth year, Evolution Emerging has unearthed countless artists from the North East and beyond, with notable performances from Lanterns on the Lake, Mausi, Beth Jeans Houghton & the Hooves of Destiny, We Are Knuckle Dragger and Lulu James. Generator’s ability to showcase the next big thing was on display for all to see in 2013, with highlights of last year including Nadine Shah, Shields, Big Beat Bronson and current festival faves Lisbon.

The event’s reputation for offering a truly varied lineup of amazing talent has been firmly established, with over 1,000 punters filling all venues and an increasingly national approach to bookings – with last year’s successful set from Eliza and the Bear being followed with more and more emerging artist bookings from across the UK.

Evolution Emerging 2013 was nominated for Journal Culture Award’s Best Event Tyneside. The event is also proud to be a featured event as part of PRS for Music’s Centenary Year.

Joe Frankland, Artist Development Manager at Generator says:

“Evolution Emerging 2014 is shaping up to be our best event yet. Our headliners will be fresh from releases and tours, we have a few Tipping Point artists fresh from Liverpool Sound City and The Great Escape, and all of our artists have been busy – getting together in April for Generator’s Artist Development Masterclass Day and plotting some great surprises on the day. Our Aftershow party is close to selling out and we’re also using new venue The Tower for the first time. Needless to say, we can’t wait to bring so much new music to the Ouseburn Valley.”

Evolution Emerging 2014 features 40 artists playing across 9 venues in the Ouseburn Valley Newcastle on Saturday 24th May. Headliners The Lake Poets, Bridie Jackson and The Arbour and Boy Jumps Ship are joined by the likes of Gallery Circus, Crooked Hands, Fé, Sam Fender, Blessa, Absorb, Screaming Maldini and many, many more

This year’s gigs take place from 7-11pm, with wristband exchange open between 4-9.30pm. Tickets are a bargain £3 for gigs and a £5 ticket also gains entry to the Official Aftershow which takes place at Star & Shadow Cinema from 10.30pm-3am. See for more info and terms and conditions.
