It’s time to start practising your best skating moves, as Newcastle’s only outdoor ice rink is set to return to Times Square next month! Life Science Centre is busily preparing for this year’s rink, which opens to the public at 10.00am on Saturday 14 November.
Life’s ice rink has become something of a Geordie institution over the years, and is guaranteed to get visitors feeling festive! The team at Life build the rink from scratch, and test it meticulously to ensure that it is perfect before the first eager visitors arrive.
Novice skaters can relax, as Skating@Life has a team of experienced Ice Marshalls who are there to keep an eye on visitors, and guide them around their first wobbly steps on the ice. With a little help from these friendly staff, guests will soon be gliding around the rink like professionals!
Skating@Life is open every day during this period except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, offering visitors plenty of opportunity to get to grips with the ice. Christmas Eve skating is always a hugely popular festive event, and so this is the only day that must be booked in advance at www.life.org.uk to ensure a spot on the rink.
