Spring is well and truly here and so too is a raft of activities for people to enjoy in Newcastle city centre thanks to business improvement district company, NE1 Ltd.

NE1’S QUAYSIDE SEASIDE – 22 May – 5 October

Kick off your shoes and feel the sand between your toes on NE1’s pop up beach, Quayside Seaside returns for the summer at the end of May.  The beach will remain in place until the beginning of October and this year it will be bigger and better, you’ll even be able to buy yourself an ice cream from an official ice cream seller.

Magic Weekend – 30 and 31 May

Even if the glorious game of rugby isn’t your bag you’ll love the party atmosphere of Rugby League’s Magic Weekend – a sporting extravaganza that NE1 has helped bring to Newcastle.  12 teams will compete on the hallowed turf of St James’ Park in a weekend of thrills and spills rugby action with 3 games taking place each day.  There’s more than just the rugby to enjoy when the Magic Weekend caravan rolls into town with fan zones, events and activities happening in and around the ground.  Don’t miss any of the action.

NE1’S MONUMENT MOVIES – 21 July – 31 August

NE1’s deckchairs will be out in force across the city at the pop up beach on the Quayside as well as making a reappearance at Grey’s Monument for the return of the ever popular, NE1’s Monument Movies.  Free film screenings of family favourites, new movies and old classics throughout the school summer holidays.  Check out www.getintonewcastle.co.uk website for all the details.

NE1’S TABLE TENNIS TABLES May  – September

Bats at the ready – NE1’s Ping Pong tables will also make a welcome return for the summer.  These blue beauties will re-emerge on the streets of the city after a winter’s hibernation.  Remember to take your own bats and balls and from an orderly queue for your chance to play.

NE1 RESTAURANT WEEK – 3 – 9 August

In August, between 3-9 August, you’ll be able to dine out in style on a budget at some of Newcastle’s finest restaurants.  NE1’s Restaurant Week, the only one of its kind in the whole of the UK, will be back with over 80 restaurants taking part offering dining delights for only £10 or £15 per head.

NE1 has a whole host of other exciting projects up its sleeve so to make sure you don’t miss out on these festivities, or anything else happening in Newcastle, register for event updates at getintonewcastle.co.uk
