ON TUESDAY 4 November the ‘BIG Workout’ is set to conclude this year’s Active Sunderland BIG Events programme. The BIG Workout is a fun packed exercise and lifestyle event suitable for everyone.
This year’s event will see Sunderland award-winning entrepreneur, fitness instructor and personal trainer, Katie Bulmer-Cooke, currently appearing on BBC1’s The Apprentice, teaching a fun aerobic workout that anyone can do. Katie was chosen from thousands of hopeful candidates to appear on the show and impress Lord Alan Sugar with her business “know how”.
Katie said “I’m super excited to be teaching at this event, which has attracted big crowds in previous years. It’s a great chance for people of all fitness levels to have a brilliant workout in an amazing atmosphere with top instructors”.
Councillor John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture said: “It’s fantastic news that Katie will be involved with the BIG workout again this year, I’m sure her workout will be extremely popular. And with the other sessions being led by some of Sunderland’s most experienced fitness instructors catering for children, families, and adults it promises to be an exciting evening. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend lifestyle talks to complement the sessions”
A programme suitable for children and families runs from 4-6pm and a further programme, more suited to adults (14+) will run from 5.30-9pm.
Pre-registration is advisable for the BIG Workout and applications will be taken until 24 October 2014. If you wish to purchase an event T-shirt, this must be ordered by no later than 10 October. It is also possible to register on the day of the event, however, places cannot be guaranteed if the event is already fully subscribed.
Cllr Kelly added: “This is a great chance to join in the last activities of another successful year of Active Sunderland Big events. So far this year we have had 1, 443 people taking part in the programme. The BIG Bike Ride, BIG Walk and BIG Run have all been very well supported and I encourage anyone who is interested in taking an interest in getting active and just as importantly staying active, to come along to the BIG Workout”
The evening has something for everyone, including some really fun events mixed along with a wide range of exercises and information on getting and staying healthy. I encourage everyone to come along and be part of this fantastic community event.
