If you read my last blog post you’ll know all about the Easter egg amnesty we ran here at the Fitness Camp Academy. Last Monday and Tuesday we ran a series of special training sessions to give not only our current members but anyone over the age of 18 to opportunity to enjoy their Easter eggs in a sin-free way!!
The sessions were a great success, with everyone who attended donating at least one Easter egg towards our amnesty. With well over sixty eggs donated in total these went on to be passed to two local charities, Hope4Kids based in Sunderland and the Northern branch of Variety, the Children’s Charity.
All eggs collected by our Seaburn camp were taken to 103.4 Sun FM’s HQ in Sunderland to be passed onto Hope 4 Kidz.
While all eggs donated by our Newcastle and North Tyneside camps were donated to Variety, the Children’s Charity.
Tony Thornton from Variety, the Children’s Charity said:
“What a fantastic effort from everyone concerned with the East Egg Amnesty and congratulations to the Fitness Camp Academy for their great success in persuading their clients to donate an egg to such a worthy cause. There are going to be some very happy children this Easter as a result of this and we, as a charity are so very, very grateful.”
One of the lucky recipients of the eggs passed onto Variety, the Children’s Charity was Woodlawn School in North Tyneside, their Deputy Head teacher Claire Harrison-Hoggarth, said:
“We have been lucky enough to have been supported by Variety in the past and helped us secure a minibus which has been an essential resource to ensure that our pupils can extend their learning on educational visits and residentials. We were delighted that the Fitness Camp Academy and Variety chose Woodlawn School to support with their Easter Egg Amnesty. We also believe in eating healthily and keeping fit but all of the pupils enjoyed their Easter eggs as a treat after working hard during a very successful term at school.”
On behalf of the FitnessCamp Academy and the charities involved I’d also like to thank everyone who came along to our special Easter sessions and donated an egg to these very worth while charities.
