BILLINGHAM – Let the Games Begin!
STOCKTON Council has secured more than £40,000 from SITA Trust for a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) in Billingham’s John Whitehead Park .
The £41,198 funding is part of the Sport in the Park Developments scheme and will offer improved recreational facilities for people of all ages.
The MUGA in John Whitehead Park will offer the chance for people to enjoy sports such as football and basketball all year round.
Work is set to start later this year and be completed in spring 2013.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This is fantastic news. The funding from SITA Trust will allow us to provide first class recreational facilities for people in Billingham. John Whitehead Park is already a popular and well used park and this Multi Use Games Area will be a welcome addition.”
SITA Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund.
