Newcastle Songstress Reaches Open Mic Grand Final

Local singer/songwriter Channy Thompson is set to sing her heart out in the Open Mic Grand Final, a national music competition at the NEC Arena in Birmingham on 24th January!

Channy aged 21, from the West End of Newcastle said; “I am really excited to step out onto that stage and perform. I have been working solidly on my music and every opportunity can lead to something new. Music is my passion, so I will give it my all and enjoy myself!”

Over the past few months Channy has preformed at some very impressive gigs and events; recently supporting X Factors/ I’m a celeb Jake Quickenden and X Factors Lucy Spraggan in local events. She performed at the Hilton Hotel Christmas Light Switch on and at Lloyd’s BMW Christmas Market, in association with Metro Radio Cash for Kids. She has performed alongside X-Factor performer/friend Geoff Mull across various gigs over the past year.

Channy added; “I love performing, and Open Mic gives a platform in front of industry professionals to do just that!”

Recently returning from a successful talent showcase in America, after being scouted by a company called Talent Inc, Channy is now fundraising towards her American working visa, to work on her music overseas, after offers from agents/management!

Channy who came 2nd in Metro Radio Live’s Big Audition this year and performed in Tour Music Fest, a music festival in Rome Italy after winning a Social Media Award through TeenStar music competition comments; “Working hard is key, I can’t wait to see what the next year holds, it’s exciting!!”
