The organisers of Chase Park Festival have confirmed the event’s line-up for 2016 and music fans will see Sheffield’s indie dance stalwarts Reverend & The Makers take part in what has been billed as the festival’s most ambitious gathering to date.

Chase Park Festival is back with a bang again this year and will take place on August 6 at one of Gateshead’s most idyllic settings.

Other acts will join Reverend & The Makers on the Chase Park stage this summer which includes Oxford’s alt- folk rockers Stornoway and Ben Ottewell, the singer of 1990s indie rock legends Gomez.

Chase Park Festival 2016 will also feature the Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits-inspired Tom Hickox, Stranger Stranger and Memphis Industries’ Tyneside 4 part harmony outfit The Cornshed Sisters.

Speaking ahead of this year’s line-up announcement, Festival Organiser Alistair McDonald, said: “We’re delighted to confirm the line-up for Chase Park 2016 and we believe this is our strongest yet.

“There’s a real mix of established and emerging bands and different styles of music. I think everyone who comes will really enjoy it. We have a few bands in there that people might not be too familiar with, but they are going to surprise a few people. Reverend and the Makers are the epitome of fun and reflect what Chase Park is all about, family fun in the sun for everyone!

“The beauty of attending a festival is being able to see loads of different bands that you like and also be exposed to new artists that will come as a welcome surprise. I think that people are going to have a great time at the festival and the calibre of artists is exceptionally high. I really love the atmosphere at Chase Park and because the event has no barriers it really lends its self to an audience of like-minded music fans, families and people of all abilities.”

And, as ever, the festival will feature some of the North East’s most promising rising stars and will see performances from Newcastle’s RnB pop high risers SoShe, the sublime Jeff Buckley inspired singer-songwriter Jake Houlsby and a special appearance from electronica outfit The Sound Beams.

Hot on the heels of their 5th studio album, Mirrors, which music icon Noel Gallagher recently described as one of the most exciting sounds he’s heard since the 1960s, Reverend & The Makers will make a welcome return to the region.

Fronted by the enigmatic Jon McClure, AKA “The Reverend”, the Sheffield fivesome have come a long way since they burst onto the scene in 2005 with fellow Yorkshiremen Arctic Monkeys.

The band’s debut album The State of Things (2007) helped them gain widespread success and acclaim in the UK, as well as spawning UK Top 10 single “Heavyweight Champion of the World”.

Reverend & The Makers complete the line-up for 2016 and the event will once again serve as a welcome addition to the region’s growing arsenal of high-profile events.

“We have always strived to balance the line-up in terms of high-profile bands and also giving emerging artists with disabilities the chance to share the bill with some heavyweights from the music industry,” adds Alistair.

“We have chosen a number of artists with disabilities who we feel really deserve the exposure. We are running an artist development programme with the UK’s leading music development agency Generator this year to ensure these guys get the most out of their involvement with the festival.

“Our event is unique in where people of all walks of life can come together and really enjoy themselves. For less than £10, you will see loads of amazing music, in beautiful surroundings, the best BBQ outside of Texas from Longhorns and a myriad of tastes and flavours that make up the wonderful spectrum of beers from Wylam Brewery. We sold out last year so if you want to ensure you are able to enjoy this year’s festival, get your tickets quick!

Chase Park Festival, located in Whickham, Gateshead, just 5 miles from Newcastle’s city centre and only a 30-minute drive from Sunderland, will be the must-see live music spectacular of the region’s festival programme.
