Newcastle’s Independent Library, the Literary and Philosophical Society, is holding a fundraising event at The Stand on Newcastle’s High Bridge on Monday 30th September.
The Lit & Phil launched their Development Appeal in February 2011 and have so far raised over £200,000 but much more is needed to implement the plans for future survival.
Fundraiser Alma Devine has organised a variety of events to raise awareness of the Lit & Phil and funds for the ongoing appeal ‘The Lit & Phil has always had a thriving events programme, I’m now trying to think of events that will generate a higher income and attract new people into this amazing library.’
‘The Comedy event at the Stand is a perfect external event, as it’s quite a departure from our usual programme and therefore reaches new audiences. We’re delighted that our members and friends are supporting the event and hope that people will have a great night, whilst supporting the Lit & Phil. The Lit & Phil is such an important part of Newcastle and we look forward to a fun evening and a secure future.’
‘We would like to thank The Stand for their support, they have organised four great comedians for the evening: John Scott, George Zach, Nicola Mantalois Lovett and Stephen Baines will be taking to the stage.’
Photographic Artist Jan Radwanski will also be selling his art on the evening, with a percentage going to the Lit & Phil.
Doors open at 7pm Show starts prompt 8.30pm.
