corbridge festival 2014 - Corbridge Festival 2014 Goes Big on 12 July!

BIG COUNTRY, ROZALLA, BALL-ZEE AND CHRIS HELME ARE SOME OF THE NATIONAL TREASURES HEADING FOR THE CORBRIDGE FESTIVAL.

The Corbridge Festival returns to the picturesque setting of Tynedale Park on Sat 12th July for its fourth consecutive year. Best-loved for its glittering selection of local acts and National treasures, performing rock, pop and dance along with the best of the Country’s Ska, Folk and Rockabilly.  The Festival still maintains the all-important feel of the family friendly event.

Scottish rock band Big Country, dance sensation Rozalla,  Britains Champion Beat-Boxer Ball-Zee and former Seahorses front man Chris Helme will share the three stages with a wealth of up-and-coming talent.

Big Country broke massively worldwide with the release of their first album ‘The Crossing’ and the classic singles ‘Fields Of Fire’ and ‘Chance’ which come from it.  Their signature song ‘In A Big Country’, went on to become a huge worldwide hit, selling over 2 million copies and driving ‘The Crossing’ to 3 prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA.  More recently the band have performed at many of the UK and Europe’s most famous festivals, including Isle Of Wight, V Festival, T In The Park, creating a new generation of fans and renewing the passion for diehards.

The Festival prides itself on offering a great range of music and to highlight this, dance sensation Rozalla will be performing all of her hits on the main stage.  Rozalla’s style, melodic flair and impressive string of hit singles has earned her the title ‘Queen of Rave’.  Best known for international smash hits such as ‘Are You Ready to Fly’, ‘Faith In The Power Of Love’ and of course ‘Everybody’s Free To Feel Good’.  Rozalla is undoubtedly one of dance music’s most influential and consistent performers.

Ball-Zee is the UK’s leading beatbox artist and has quickly become established as one of the leading vocal musicians on the world stage thanks to his unique musical style, signature snares and astonishingly realistic sound effects.  At just 26 years of age he is the reigning three times UK Beatbox Champion, becoming the first person in history to win the title three times.mes. Ball-Zee is currently touring his solo show across Europe and beyond, stunning crowds from the Cetatea Brasovului fortress in Romania to London’s O2 Academy and Twickenham Stadium.

Chris Helme first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire’s post-Stone Roses band ‘The Seahorses’. Still rightfully remembered for Britpop classics ‘Love Is The Law’ and ‘Blinded By The Sun’, his songs evoke everything the 90’s stood for; the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance.

The festival has also managed to ‘bag’ Newcastle’s hottest young rock band Boy Jumps Ship who will also appear on the main stage. Other bands joining the line-up include Happy Daggers, Ska toons, Bessie and the Zinc Buckets, Driven Serious, Fiona Clayton, Skinny Living, Talk Like Tigers, Coquin Migale and more.  Home grown musicians from Northumberland include Hayley Ellen Watson (Corbridge), Charlie Dancer (Wylam), Hannah Lamb (Rothbury), to provide a sensational musical backdrop to a wonderful family friendly weekend.  Steffen Peddie, better know as ‘Big Keith’ from sitcom Hebburn will once again compere the main stage throughout the day.  Camping is available on Friday and Saturday night with entertainment lined up on Friday night exclusively for campers.

Festival-goers are treated to workshops including African drumming, kid’s yoga, circus skills, body zorbing, paint balling, jewellery making, DJ training, arts and crafts and more.  There’s a play bus, go karts, fairground, story tellers and face painting.  Further complementing all of this is the array of festival stalls and catering units. The bars will be extended for 2014 offering a larger choice of real ale, lager, cider and all other alcoholic and soft drinks.  There will be a cocktail bar and the return of the very popular Champagne and Pimms bar.  As always the strange and flamboyant theatrical characters will mingle with the crowds to provide a magical and stimulating experience. Corbridge festival is so much more than a music festival, it’s an open air party for all of the family.
