STOCKTON Council’s popular Folktastic event will take place at Preston Park Museum, Stockton on Bank Holiday Monday 27th May.

The traditional celebration of folk and song will take place throughout the day from 1pm until 4pm, with the cobbled Victorian Street to be brought alive with traditional music and dance, gathered from across the north.

In the evening, the range becomes more contemporary, as the park hosts ‘The Walled Garden Festival’ .Taking place from 5pm to 10pm, the outdoor event features bands including Rob Heron & The Teapad Orchestra, Lilliput, Bridie Jackson & The Arbour, By Toutatis, Ditte Elly and Sara Dennis & The Rivensmiths.

This exciting event is funded by Arts Council England and organised by Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, a group recently confirmed for the Pyramid stage at this years Glastonbury Festival.

Admission to the daytime event is free with payment of museum entrance, whilst tickets for the evening contemporary folk festival are £8.

Hot food and refreshments will be available on the day/evening.

The Festival is part of the Music in Museums project which runs from May to July 2013 with musical performances and projects in museums and galleries throughout the region.

Museum entry: Adult £2, Child/Concession £1, Family £4 (2A+4C) All tickets valid for multiple visits for one year from date of issue.

Preston Park Museum is a finalist for the Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year 2013.
