Gentoo has received gold status from the NHS Better Health at Work Award for promoting better health in the workplace within the North East.
The staff at Gentoo were involved in a number of different events and activities throughout 2013, which involved, their families and the wider community too. The activities included the Housing Community Games, a charity spinathon, a family swim day and ice skating. A dementia memory event, healthy eating advice sessions and NHS health checks were also on offer.
The gold status, which builds upon the silver award, recognises the team’s creativity and effort. Michelle Haste, Employee Wellbeing Manager from Gentoo said: “These activities are not only informative and educational, they raise awareness whilst still being fun and engaging. They bring staff together from across the business, regardless of their roles, and this positivity is then shared wider with family and friends.
She added: “We’re very proud to have achieved the Gold status and will continue to deliver activities and campaigns focused on both physical and mental health as part of our vision to improve the Art of Living.”
Gentoo is currently working on their ‘Happy Healthy Here’ programme. To ensure they deliver results, Gentoo are collaborating with 42 partners and charities, including national organisations and the local NHS and Health Champions network.
