Great North Snowdogs has been the most successful public art trail ever to take place in the region, and now they are to be auctioned off for charity in a one-off event.
Thousands of people from the North East and beyond have visited the sculptures since they went on display in September.
More than 11,000 have downloaded the Great North Snowdogs app – unlocking around 155,000 Snowdogs in the process – and at least 280k people have viewed, shared and interacted with the St Oswald’s Hospice social media sites each week.
On Tuesday, 6 December, the 61 individually decorated sculptures will go up for auction at a glittering event at Sage Gateshead, to raise funds for Gosforth-based St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice. There are also four surprise lots to add even more excitement to the evening.
Comedians Jason Cook and Steffen Peddie will be hosts for the evening and the auction will be conducted by auctioneers from Anderson and Garland.
As well as bids from the room, they will be taking telephone and online bids. A number of well-known figures have already registered an interest, so we expect this to be a fairly high octane event.
