A ground-breaking concert of acid house hits, played by a full orchestra – with a DJ mix thrown in – is receiving ‘rave’ reviews as it makes its way across the UK to the North East.
On 19 August, Sunderland’s Herrington Country Park will play host to Haçienda Classical – a one night only tribute to dance music classics from the heyday of Manchester’s legendary Haçienda nightclub.
The tracks, by bands such as New Order, Black Box and Marshall Jefferson, have been reinterpreted by the club’s original DJs, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park and will be played alongside the Manchester Camerata Orchestra with performances from the AMC Choir, New Order’s Peter Hook and Happy Mondays’ Rowetta.
And tickets are selling fast for the show, which has played to superb reviews and full houses at Manchester, Glasgow, Lancaster, Brighton, Birmingham and London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Event organiser, Northern Sessions has created two ticket packages, each of which includes festival-style hospitality, with catering provided by Ramside Event Catering, a division of Ramside Hall Hotel, Co Durham.
General admission tickets include access to a Gin Palace, Prosecco bar, Mojito Tent and traditional bar, a coffee bar and food stations serving hog roast, noodles, crispy chicken and duck wraps and gourmet burgers.
VIP guests will be able to relax in the hospitality marquee with secure enclosure and a dedicated food and bar service.
Access to VIP toilets and deck chair seating will be available and tickets include a drink on arrival and a selection of gin cocktails in conjunction with County Durham gin brand, Poetic License.
There will also be a grazing buffet – comprising a hog roast, miniature burgers, chicken and seafood paella and rigatoni Napoli – a variety of bowl food, such as bangers and mash, Thai green curry and king prawn noodles Schezuan and a Scream for Pizza van, serving three types of pizza by the slice.
“Haçienda Classical has been possibly the biggest concert hit of the year in the UK and we aim to make its visit to Herrington a night to remember,” said Karen Makepeace, in-house promoter for Northern Sessions.”
Tickets cost £35 for general admission and £100 for VIP and are available from http://www.ticketline.co.uk/hacienda-classical-northern-sessions#bio or through 0844 8889991.
