Pumpkin competition durham - Halloween Pumpkin Competition, Kingslodge Inn, 28-31 October

The Kingslodge Inn in Durham city is inviting big and little kids alike to thrill and chill their staff with the spookiest Jack-O-Lantern competition.

Children and adults are invited to pop into the Inn with their carved pumpkins, which will be displayed over the Halloween weekend.

To stand a frighteningly good chance of snapping up the prize of a free meal for a child and a bottle of house wine for an adult, the winning lanterns must be deemed “The Scariest Of All”.

The Kingslodge Inn general manager, Leanne Jeffery, said: “This is the first Halloween for us and we’re really keen to make it spooktacular as possible. We’ll be welcoming in as many regulars and new faces over the Halloween weekend so they can embrace their inner ghoul quicker than they can say BOO!

“We don’t think there are any ghosts and ghoulies in the KingsLodge Inn so this is the perfect chance for children and grown-ups alike to come and trick and treat our staff with their carved pumpkins!”

Entry is free and the winners will be drawn on Monday October 31 at 7pm. Prizes for the best pumpkin carved by an adult is a bottle of house wine and a free kids meal for the pumpkin carved by a child.

The Inn, which is open 365 days a year serving food from breakfast until 9.30pm, holds an AA Dinner Award and the Taste Durham Highest Quality Assured Award in recognition of the quality of its home cooked pub food made with local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible.
