A BUSINESS adviser who has helped dozens of budding entrepreneurs into self employment is practising what she preaches by launching her own company.

Hina Joshi will open the doors of her new company, Mayvin Associates, on November 2, based within the Novus Business Centre, on Peterlee Business Park.

The 43-year-old will offer a range of services including marketing, financial planning and management, business development, coaching, and business recovery planning.

Hina launches her new business with 18 years of experience having worked for several organisations, the last being East Durham Business Service (EDBS) where she was employed in an advisory and marketing role.

Hina, who hails from Sunderland, said: “I feel it’s the right time to launch my own company as there is definitely a gap in the market for someone of my expertise who is able to offer businesses more streamlined support across a number of key areas, which will enable them to develop their business growth and potential.

“I thought to myself, ‘start practising what you preach and go out there and do it’.

“I’m excited, nervous and scared, but then it wouldn’t be right if I wasn’t.

“I’ve always liked a challenge and I felt that I needed to push myself. I’ve got some work lined up already so I’m all good to go.”

Hina started her career in 1997 at Sunderland City Training and Enterprise Council as a marketing executive.

In 2001 she got a job as a business advisor for Business Link Sunderland – which eventually amalgamated with Business Link Tyneside to become Business Link Tyne and Wear.

In 2007, that organisation evolved to become Business Link North East, for which Hina covered Tyne and Wear with a focus on Newcastle and the Team Valley.

She the joined the business support team at EDBS, initially to cover maternity leave, before joining on a permanent basis in January 2014.

Hina, who has also worked for Entrust, added: “During my time with EDBS I have helped support a number of people into self employment, many of whom are still trading now. I have also had the pleasure of working with many established businesses throughout Tyne and Wear and East Durham, helping them identify and implement their growth plans.

“This area is often regarded as an employment and business creation blackspot but I know that’s not the case. There are more people than ever before pursuing a path into self employment and now, I am about to become one of them.

“Establishing Mayvin Associates is going to be hard work but I am determined to make it a success and am excited as to what the future holds.”
