North east electronic maestro Kev Dosdale, better known as Razmataz Lorry Excitement, is launching his new album Without at Northern Stage, Newcastle on Saturday 18th July, in partnership with NARC. Magazine.
The LP is a consistently spellbinding mix of 90s-inspired beats, soulful vocals and thoroughly memorable melodic hooks, featuring contributions from Natasha Haws, Nathalie Stern and Lone Wolf. His performance will be accompanied by one-off, never to be seen again visuals from award-winning creative studio NOVAK Collective.
Dosdale says: “Working with visuals and bringing a more layered and multi-disciplined edge to my live performance is something that I’ve always wanted to try. This one-off event will be a great opportunity to do this and will be an interesting and exciting way for me to showcase my new album.”
Joining him on the night is fellow electronic artist, vocal loop magician and RLE collaborator Nathalie Stern, who will be performing her set alongside live visuals created by Peter McAdam’s iCoda software. Nathalie says: “NARC. always delivers top-notch shows at interesting venues and I’m chuffed to be sharing the bill with Razmataz Lorry Excitement. The visual elements will add another dimension to the event which is going to be entertainment at its best.”
The album launch party also contains a number of other exceptional highlights, including the screening of two short films, the quirky, award-winning The Boy With A Camera For A Face by Spencer Brown and the beautiful, thought-provoking In The Air by Kate Sweeney. Music videos from local bands past and present will also be screened in-between the sets. The night will be rounded off by a DJ set from Field Music’s Peter Brewis, also accompanied by one-off visuals created with iCoda.
Don’t be shocked if there’s a few extra surprises on the night too at what’s already shaping up to be one of the most distinctive and exciting audio-visual events in the region this year.
