ROKER PARK is being transformed once again this October with a lighting display and free programme of family entertainment.

Roker Park will light up into a ‘Wonderland Experience’ from October 12th until November 3rd and the park will feature atmospheric lighting alongside Alice in Wonderland sculptures that light up during the evening.

The display will provide visitors with the chance to enjoy the historic park during the evening and find some surprising colourful characters along the way.

The introduction of this year’s new Alice in Wonderland features means visitors will also be able to enjoy Roker Park Lights during the day as well as the evening.

Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, Councillor John Kelly said: “Last year’s Roker Park Lights proved a massive success with very impressive visitor numbers and positive feedback.

“We were obviously keen to repeat this and build on the success of last year’s event.”

Chris Alexander, Chief Operating Officer of Sunderland Live, who are delivering the event on behalf of Sunderland City Council added: “After the success of last year’s Roker Park Lights, we are delighted to see the return of such a popular event.”

“The colourful displays will be in keeping with the classic and historic nature of the park and we hope everyone enjoys the experience and we are delighted to be working with Aurora Street Lighting to on the installation and maintenance of the project”.

Roker Park will stay open during the evenings until 9pm and will also host a programme of free weekend children’s activities.
