St. Clare’s Hospice in South Tyneside are on the lookout for volunteers with the Christmas Spirit willing to do more than just dip their toes in the North Sea this year by taking a sponsored Boxing Day Dip in aid of the Hospice.
Last year the hospice raised over £6,000 from over 100 ‘dippers’ that supported this event and this year they hope to attract even more support. Taking place next to the lifeguard station on Sea Road in South Shields anyone over eight years of age is welcome and the organiser’s hope that supporters will dig deep and sponsor the brave ‘dippers’ who take part in this year’s event.
“We hope this year could raise around £7,500 at this incredible event” explained Colin Powell one of the fundraisers at the Hospice. “We are delighted at the support this event has achieved in the past and appreciate the effort our fearless dippers make to raise the funds needed at the hospice. 2014 has been a very busy year for the Hospice and supporting our Boxing Day Dip is a great way to demonstrate your support of the Hospice and burn off some of the overindulgence of Christmas!
If you are up for this challenge all you need to do is pay a £5 registration fee and pledge to raise as much money as you can to support the work of the Hospice.
