Businesses given the opportunity to embrace equality and lend their support to delivering anti-racism education
Anti-racism charity Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) are hosting two free taster sessions aimed at introducing businesses to the work of the campaign.
The events, which will both take place at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park on Tuesday 2nd June 2015 (morning and afternoon sessions), have been created to help businesses access the services of SRtRC and to find out how they can support the anti-racism education work delivered by the campaign.
“Show Racism the Red Card are lucky enough to have received support from some great businesses over the years, and these event are aimed at highlighting the mutual benefits of association with our anti-racism campaigning and educational delivery” said Paul Kearns, Deputy Chief Executive of Show Racism the Red Card”
“The campaign’s association with role models from the world of football has created an exciting and engaging programme which has enabled us to develop services which are of direct benefit to businesses throughout the UK”.
Delegates will benefit from a brief introduction to the aims of the campaign, before a key-note address which outlines the barriers to discussing racism and highlights the reasons why this is important.
Those in attendance will then take part in a taster workshop designed to help them to recognise and respond to racist incidents within the workplace. The session will focus on the benefits of a creating an equal work environment and will provide practical examples of how potential prejudice can be challenged effectively.
The event will also feature a personal testimony from one of the many former professional footballers who now support the work of SRtRC. These anti-racism campaigners will share their experiences of racism both within football and within society, and will explain what motivated them to become involved in the campaign.
