For Music Lovers

Banish winter blues with Showaddywaddy as they return to the stage in January 2015 with another fast-paced performance of rock and roll’s greatest hits. March is a month for music as we welcome renowned tenor Russell Watson for one night only, followed by tribute bands Mercury and T.Rextasy,  The Johnny Cash Road Show, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Junco Partners, Eddi Reader and Joe McElderry.

For Kids

We’re delighted to welcome Britain’s Got Talent Winners and TV Stars Ashleigh and Pudsey to the PLAYHOUSE for a fantastic performance of the Wizard of Oz in April. We’ll be back in Oz in May for another family fun show as The Chuckle Brothers take us on a tour of Oz like you’ve never seen before. The Basil Brush Show will be here in February causing mischief and mayhem in a live, action-packed show, followed by a brand new show for 2015: Sing-Along-Frozen in the summer holidays!

For Theatre Lovers

With a host of hilarious characters, witty one-liners and uplifting songs (including the famous Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and Leaning On A Lamp Post) Me and My Girl is a sublime and sunny treat for fans of musical comedy performed by the cast of the Tynemouth Operatic Society. Claire Sweeney stars in and co-writes brand new comedy Sex in Suburbia about dating, men and finding Mr Right, comedienne Crissy Rock is anything but clean in Dirty Dusting – a hilarious new play written and directed by award-winning North East playwrights Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood. Get your tissues at the ready for the Whitley Bay Operatic Society’s stellar performance of Sunshine on Leith which follows the story of two Scottish soldiers who return from Afghanistan, home to Leith (Edinburgh, Scotland) to the warm embrace of their families.

Must-Not-Miss Events

The BANFF Film Festival returns for two nights with a series of short films and documentaries produced by adventurers across the globe – inspiring, emotional and unmissable. Taking you on a whistle-stop tour from the heart of London’s theatre land to the glitz of Broadway, Mad about the Musicals celebrates songs from the shows we all know and love! Stars Michael Courtney and Gareth Gates. Enjoy the life and times of Steve Parrish, self-confessed ‘World Champion, BBC TV Presenter-Practical Joker-Prankster-Hooligan-Pain in the Ar**” as he stops at the PLAYHOUSE as part of his M.A.D Tour.
