Stars of the smash-hit Sky Atlantic show Game of Thrones are to perform stand-up comedy in the North East next month. Chance to Win a pair of tickets see form below.
Ben Crompton, who plays Eddison Tollett of the Night’s Watch in the HBO series, will appear alongside Gemma Whelan, best known to fans as Yara Greyjoy, at The Hyena Comedy Club in Newcastle on Thursday 11 December.
Organisers say the event, dubbed Game For A Laugh, is the first of its kind, and combines live comedy with a mini-convention for fans of the blockbuster TV programme.
As well as stand-up performances from Crompton and Whelan, the night will also feature a Game of Thrones question and answer session with the cast, and stalls provided by Newcastle outlets Geek Retreat, Travelling Man and sponsors Vaporized.
Organiser Si Buglass says: “We’re very excited to be holding an event like this in Newcastle.
“It’s something we’ve never seen done before. It’s pretty much a cross between a Game of Thrones convention and a comedy club event, and we’re sure it will appeal to Game of Thrones and comedy fans alike.
“The responses we’ve had so far have been overwhelming. It’s looking likely this event could sell out a while in advance.”
Tyneside resident Crompton, well-known to comedy fans for his appearances in Ideal, Pramface and Man Stroke Woman, added: “I’m looking forward to it. I’ve never gigged with Gemma before but know her work.
“It should be a really good night – there’ll be lots of laughs and it’ll be a nice opportunity to meet some fans of the show and answer any questions they have about it.
“Also, if you come along we’ll tell you everything that’s going to happen in Season 5, spoilers, the lot. (That last bit is almost certainly not true).”
Tickets for the event, priced £12, are available to buy online or in person at Geek Retreat Newcastle and Travelling Man in Newcastle.
