tyneside bernicia music festival 2014 - Tyneside's Bernicia Festival Line-up Revealed

Kittle PR, in association with The Customs House and North Tyneside Council, are thrilled to announce the full line-up and venues for Bernicia Festival 2014.

Taking place across a full weekend on Saturday August 30th and Sunday August 31st, Bernicia Festival has expanded to take on both sides of Tyneside for a weekend of free live music from some of the region’s biggest acts. Bernicia 2014 will officially transform into an outdoor festival with the Saturday set to take place outside of The Customs House and the Sunday moving to the recently renovated Spanish City Plaza in Whitley Bay. This move has allowed for an increased capacity of 1000 for each day, a huge increase on last year.

Co-headlining the weekend will be the accidentally wonderful Hyde & Beast (Saturday 30th) and lush folk four piece Bridie Jackson & The Arbour (Sunday 31st). Joining the headliners are over 30 acts including The Lake Poets, Shields, Boy Jumps Ship, Ajimal, Lilliput, Railway Club, Grandfather Birds and Sam Fender.

Building on the success that was last year’s inaugural all-day celebration of the North East’s musical community, Bernicia will be working with a number of other key local partners to provide a platform for over 30 acts, including for the first time, three acts from outside of the region. Joining the region’s finest will be Playlounge, Goodbye Chanel and The Spook School.

Both days will take place outdoors at The Customs House and the recently re-developed Spanish City Plaza in Whitley Bay. Organisers from local events company Kittle will again deliver the event alongside last year’s partners The Customs House and new partners North Tyneside Council, working alongside their revered events team to bring together a legion of incredible creative talents sourced directly from the North East itself.

CEO of Kittle and festival co-ordinator Emma Howe said: “We are very proud to announce our line-up for Bernicia Festival 2014. It’s a spectacularly strong local line-up with the addition of some brilliant emerging bands from around the UK. Working with our amazing partners has allowed the festival to grow organically.

“Last year was fabulous and with the festival now being over two days and the support from new and existing partners, we really can’t wait to build on what we achieved last year.”

Customs House Executive Director Ray Spencer, MBE, added: “When we first asked Kittle PR to help develop a festival we knew there was great potential which has now been seen by North Tyneside Council and together we hope the three partners will deliver a bigger and better event.”

New to the team this year is local record label and promoter Tiny Lights Recordings who has been working alongside organisers to bring in acts from across the UK of a similar calibre to that of the region’s finest.

FREE Tickets will be available from June at www.berniciafestival.co.uk and available to pick up at The Customs House. Each person can apply for up to 10 tickets.
