Having played to record-breaking audiences this panto season, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs finished its spectacular run at the PLAYHOUSE with the presentation of a cheque to local charity, The Ellen Timney Foundation.

Blue Genie Entertainment Managing Director, Gary Telfer, and PLAYHOUSE Theatre Director, Phil Smith, awarded the impressive amount of £3050.82 to Jane Morgan, treasurer of the small local charity who support sick and under-privileged children in the North East of England.

“This is all thanks to the local people who have supported the show this year. We have had in excess of 22,000 people through the door and have been collecting at the exit at the end of each performance for this worthy charity. People have been so generous. It’s great that we can help support the local community that supports us over the Christmas period,” said Gary.

Expressing his gratitude,  Phil added: “We were delighted to end another record-breaking run with this presentation to a special local charity, and I’d like to extend our thanks to all those who gave so generously over the festive period.”

Blue Genie Entertainment, producers of the pantomime at the PLAYHOUSE for the last 8 years, will return with their much-anticipated Aladdin in December 2016. Due to demand, the run is being extended for a third consecutive year, and will open from the 5th of December to the 3rd of January.

Gary said:  “We are delighted to be returning to the PLAYHOUSE this year with an all new, magical show of Aladdin. It’s great to be extending the run again this year. We had already sold more tickets for Aladdin by the time Snow White finished than we had in April 2015 for Snow White, so it looks like it’s going to be another busy year at the PLAYHOUSE!”

In August, Blue Genie Entertainment will again choose a local charity to support throughout the panto run, so neighbouring organisations are encouraged to get in touch!
