Get ready to rub the magic lamp and enter the cave of wonders as this year’s high-flying pantomime, Aladdin is set to hit the Sunderland Empire stage from 11 December 2015 – 3 January 2016. 

Aladdin stars Coronation Street’s Terence Maynard as Abanazar, ITV’s This Morning and Strictly Come Dancing’s Alison Hammond as Slave of the Ring, Derek Moran (Channel 5’s Milkshake) as Wishee Washee and North East born Ian Good who will be taking on the role as Dame (Widow Twankey) and Director.

Alison Hammond’s larger than life personality has taken ITV’s ‘This Morning’ by storm and she is now a favourite of millions of viewers across the nation. Her infectious personality made her one of the most loved contestants on Strictly Come Dancing 2014 as she brought fun and laughter to the show with her partner Aljaz.

Coronation Street’s Terence Maynard is a dab hand at ruffling the feathers of many Weatherfield residents on-screen as Tony Stewart (Jason Grimshaw’s estranged Father) and now he has his sights set on Sunderland! So prepare for ructions this pantomime season as Terence joins the cast of Aladdin as Abanazar – the ultimate villain of the piece. Terence has shown his ruthless side on the Street so imagine what he has in store for the residents of a certain laundry in Peking!

As one of the main presenters of Channel 5’s leading children’s TV strand Milkshake! Popular children’s presenter Derek Moran will be sure to wow audiences with his energetic and enchanting personality this pantomime season. Also joining the cast as dame and director is Newcastle born Ian Good with 30 years of pantomime behind him (Oh yes he has!). He has worked extensively in theatre around the UK, in Europe and Australia both as a director and actor and has done everything from Shakespeare to Sondheim!

Aladdin guarantees another family filled festive extravaganza at Sunderland Empire so prepare to be transported to a fun fairytale world filled with adventure, mystique, stunning sets and costumes, comedy, song and dance and lots of audience participation – not to mention a flying carpet!

BSL Signed performance, Wednesday 30 December (2pm) and the Relaxed Performance will be held on Thursday 17 December 2015.
