‘Dirty Dancing’ @ Herrington Country Park, Sunderland

AS PROMISED the FREE, open air screening of ‘Dirty Dancing’ at Herrington Country Park postponed in June has been rescheduled – and will now take place on 18th August 2012.
The movie, part of Sunderland City Council’s free programme of outdoor screenings decided by public vote, was postponed due to the terrible weather conditions.
Now the weather has improved to allow the site and the grounds to recover, the outdoor screening can go ahead with the film to begin at 7pm with free parking available on-site.
Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, Councillor John Kelly said: “Given the unprecedented rain and weather conditions across the region we were left with no other choice but to postpone at the time, but promised to re-schedule.
“We were as disappointed as anyone because a lot of hard work has gone into organising these outdoor screenings, and were determined to show the film so many people voted to see whenever a date became available.
“That date is now Saturday 18 August and we hope it will be another hugely popular event.”
