Chief Operating Officer, Chris Alexander said: “Sunderland Live is developing a range of city centre festivals to attract residents and visitors into Sunderland. Following on from the success of Sunderland Soundscape and the Feel Good Weekend, the Vintage and Retro Festival will have something for everyone whatever their age.

” We hope that people will come along and enjoy all elements of the festival, take the opportunity to dress in retro clothing, take tea like they did in the fifties, and enjoy some great live music.”

Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, Councillor John Kelly said: “The Vintage and Retro Festival is another in a wide-ranging and exciting programme of events across our city.

“For whatever reason people love to look back and nostalgia is not only an appreciation and celebration of the culture of previous generations, but also a growing market for local business.”
