Independent filmmakers based in Northumberland and London have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their epic short film ‘The Cross’, to be shot in Northumberland.
.
Based on folklore, the film is a tragic love story set in the 16th century that tells the tale of a nun called Isabelle who falls in love with a monk.
.
The film will be shot on location all around Northumberland in January 2014.
.
Originally from Newcastle, writer and director Siobhan Schwartzberg, 26, spent a year researching medieval life in the North-East of England and has incorporated accurate details from the times into the script. The Cross has been described as a hybrid between Romeo and Juliet, and Joan of Arc.
.
The finished film will be around twenty minutes in length and will be entered into all major film festivals, including Sundance.
