Judges: Oliver Peyton, Kirsty Bowen, Prue Leith, Matthew Fort (L-R)

BBC Two series Great British Menu is back and this year will be featuring 3 chefs originally from the North East in the episodes to be shown during the week of September 7th. Episodes will be shown every day that week at 7.30pm on BBC Two.

The chefs taking part are:

North East:

  • Michael O’Hare, from Middlesbrough, chef at The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds
  • Tim Allen, head chef at Launceston Place in London
  • Mini Patel, chef at The Pointer (Brill in Bucks)

This year 24 of the nation’s top chefs are challenged to plate up perfection. They’re fighting it out for the chance to cook at a glorious banquet marking the centenary of the Women’s Institute, at London’s historic Draper’s Hall.

Also this year’s challenge is to produce 21st century dishes worthy of the custodians of first class homecooking. The dishes must honour the generations of women who have helped to make Britain the great culinary nation it is today. The chefs have taken inspiration from the women in their families – and the pioneering women of the institute – to turn homecooked classics into modern masterpieces.

Along the way there’ll be soaring highs and crushing lows, as the chefs do everything they can to get their dishes onto the final banquet menu. But who will triumph and who will fall?

Good luck to Michael, Tim and Mini!!!
