Now in its 8th year this well established awards evening, sponsored by Nigel Wright Recruitment continues to go from strength to strength, attracting accountants and finance managers from all industries throughout the North East.
Celebrating local achievement and regional growth, last year’s event saw over 400 people attend with regional firms such as Sage Group, KPMG, PwC and Cleveland Police all presented with awards.
The 2013 event concluded with the award for Outstanding Achievement, presented by Nigel Wright Recruitment, which recognises business leaders who have consistently excelled in their field over a number of years.
Robert Forrester, CEO of Vertu Motors Plc and 2013 winner, said: “I was quite shocked to be honest as I am not really an Accountant anymore in the real sense. It is clearly a great honour if you look back at the previous winners and their contribution. It is testament to how Vertu has grown and developed to become the 6th largest automotive retailer in the UK. We are not seven years old yet. The award reflects the hard work of our management team who are, in my mind, exceptional and should be getting the awards.”
Robert has credited his colleagues for helping him to grow and expand his company and states how integral his finance team have been to that: “We are a £1.6 billion turnover Group across nearly 100 locations, can you imagine the chaos if we lost control of the numbers. We have brilliant finance professionals who our operational colleagues have the utmost respect for.”
The North East Accountancy Awards continues to recognise excellence within the fields of finance, accounting and tax and will be holding the 2014 awards on the 26th June 2014 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
