A CELEBRATION OF FINE CUISINE TO SHOWCASE NORTHUMBRIAN FOOD

Your Northumberland Guide is coordinating the first Northumberland Restaurant Week (Monday 18th to Sunday 24th March) to celebrate the County’s fantastic local produce and wonderful places to eat around the County.

The Restaurant Week will bring together more than 40 restaurants all over Northumberland.

This seven-day event is the perfect opportunity to explore Northumberland’s produce and show that there is more to Northumberland than just stunning countryside. Restaurants and Cafes will be presenting unique offers during Restaurant Week to tempt diners. The event will be hosted and promoted by Your Northumberland Guide, with all the offers and promotions available on their website.

The purpose of the event is not only to raise awareness of Northumberland’s great restaurants, but also to help the public discover new places to eat that they might not have tried otherwise. Your Northumberland Guide’s creator, Andrew Bothamley said “I’ve been overwhelmed by the quality, originality and value on offer from those taking part.”

These include some of Northumberland’s top restaurants like No 19 at The Close House Hotel, the award-winning Battlesteads in Wark, The Treehouse Restaurant at the Alnwick Garden and Matfen Hall.

Andrew Bothamley said “We’re really proud to have some of the biggest names in Northumberland Food taking part in Restaurant Week, but we’re equally proud to be showcasing the smaller, possibly less well-known foodie heroes around the County”.

In celebrating Northumbrian food The Congregational Art Gallery and Cafe in Rothbury are putting on a unique ‘Grid Reference Menu’ for full traceability. Guy Calvert of The Congregational Gallery said “We’re sourcing the bulk of our ingredients from Northumberland and giving the customers the producers name and actual field grid references for full traceability. Subsequently we’ll also be advertising the local companies we use too which is nice.” Suppliers from their menu include The Northumberland Cheese Company, Gilchester Organics, Lindisfarne Mead, Chain Bridge Honey and even produce from their own gardens.

Andrew went on to say “This kind of creativity and passion for Northumbrian food is being repeated all over the County, the week is going to be a fantastic celebration of our amazing produce and talented chefs”.
