A Sunderland-based firm which supports independent retailers across the UK, has recruited a further five staff in its bid to grow market share and reach its five-year target of £1.2million.
Sinso Retail Support Limited based in Sunderland, which provide retail support services to the UK independent convenience sector, have seen an increase in demand for their services over the past year due to the growing numbers of independent UK stores.
The company is keen to tap into this growing market – offering a full range of retail consulting and in store services to help independent retailers boost profits. From store planning to customer flow analysis, Sinso Retail Support works closely with retailers to identify ways they can improve their business and make the changes happen.
The firm which currently has fifteen staff – is recruiting a further four merchandising employees and has recently appointed a new development manager, Jackie Soulsby, taking its headcount to 20. The firm hopes to recruit another 10 in 3 years.
Jackie, who has 30 years’ experience in the retail sector has been recruited to drive up ‘in store’ standards and efficiencies for independent retailers.
Lee Singers, Sales and Marketing Director said: “We are delighted to have Jackie on board. Our clients across the UK will benefit considerably from her expertise and experience. We are currently recruiting four new starters who will strengthen our merchandising team and are looking to recruit maybe another 4 in 2015.
“This has been a good year for Sinso, in terms of bringing in new customers. We believe that our success is due to us filling a gap in the market – offering a ‘one stop shop’ to help existing retailers maximise their profits and to get new retailers up and running.
“Our role is to ensure they are successful and sustainable by supporting them in all aspects of their business. This, together with our skilled and experienced staff and our retailing knowledge and expertise, will help us gain market share over the next few years.
There are over 40,000 independent convenience retailers across the UK and this number is growing rapidly year on year. Many need our support to help them compete in a very crowded market place.
“In light of the growing number of retail parks and the huge increase in high street multiples and discount stores – it’s not surprising that small independent retailers have lost customers and are struggling to be profitable. Our role is to help them compete, maximise profits and be sustainable. With the help of companies like ours, convenience retailers are starting to win customers back in their catchment areas and reinvigorate the image of the community focused retailer.
“That’s why our services are invaluable, helping independent shop owners use the latest technology for stock and transaction management whilst also tapping into our expertise in store design and merchandising techniques, all to create an enjoyable in store experience every time. It’s an effective solution to intelligent retailing, and the proof is in the pudding with increased sales for our customers” added Lee.
Sinso’s first year sales topped £200k and the firm is forecast to make £360,000 in year two – with a long term plan to grow our business to £1.2million in the next four years.
