Volunteers honoured with ‘Angel’ cake at Re-opening

GATESHEAD AUTISM GROUP WERE HONOURED WITH A HUGE CAKE REPLICA OF THE ANGEL OF THE NORTH AT THE GRAND RE-OPENING OF THE OAK FURNITURE LAND SUPERSTORE IN GATESHEAD.

The Gateshead Autism Group volunteers were honored by Oak Furniture Land’s Gateshead store as the store celebrates the relaunching of their latest superstore.  The Gateshead Autism Group is celebrating the success of their Gift of Autism Exhibition, currently being held at the Gateshead Sanctuary Artspace, and members of the Autism Group will take centre stage as the relaunched Gateshead store presents them with the confectionery creation in recognition of their work.

Oak Furniture Land the UK’s largest retailer of solid hardwood furniture, commissioned the huge Angel of the North cake as part of their relaunch celebrations, and to show their support for the work the Group does with people with autism, their parents, carers and families.  The relaunched superstore located at Unit 5, Metro Retail Park, Hollinside Road, is 23,000 sq ft, making it the biggest Oak Furniture Land store in the UK.   The new superstore features the latest made to match sofa ranges as well as 20 ranges of high quality oak, mango and mahogany furniture at great prices.  From traditional to contemporary styles, the store will showcase exclusively designed furniture to compliment all tastes; for the bedroom, dining room, living room and hallway.

Store manager Bryan Gargett says: “We are looking forward to the Gateshead Autism Group officially re-opening the superstore, and welcoming customers through the door.  This will be our biggest store in the country, and our second in the North East, and to celebrate we have some amazing offers in-store including up to 50% off selected items.”

Tricia McGliney ,  from Gateshead Autism Group says: “We are delighted to take part in the official opening of the new Oak Furniture Land superstore and wish them every success for the future.  The Angel of the North cake is a wonderful gesture to highlight and support the work that we do to help people affected by autism.  The Angel of the North is also our Group’s logo so we are especially pleased.  The Gift of Autism Exhibition celebrates the artistic skills of people with autism, it’s being held at Gateshead Sanctuary Artspace until 28th August showcasing a variety of paintings, photographs and crafts. The cake will be shared with visitors at Gateshead Sanctuary Artspace and with visitors at the Circus Skills Workshop being held on 28th August.

The amazing Angel of the North cake sculpture has been created by acclaimed Cake Artist Annabel de Vetten of Conjurers Kitchen and CakeBomb.

The Gateshead store opening times:Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm. (10:30 am – 11:00 am viewing only)
