BBC ‘Inside Out’ Series to cover North East Topics

The impact of the recent floods across the north of England, the burgeoning refugee camp in Calais some claim is becoming a major security threat to London, and the Geordie Shore star who’s been catapulted into the big league after becoming Queen of the Jungle.

These are just some of the stories featured in the new series of BBC current affairs series Inside Out. The programme is back on Monday January 11 for nine weeks of agenda-setting news stories, fascinating features and exclusive interviews.

There are 11 different versions of Inside Out made by of the BBC’s regional programming teams based in England. Each version of the programme is first shown regionally on BBC One at 7.30pm on Monday before going to BBC iPlayer for 30 days.

This series sees three Inside Out programmes focuses on the recent flooding that’s devastated large parts of northern England. In Yorkshire, weather presenter Paul Hudson asks if some parts of the region are fighting a losing battle against the elements.

Other stories across the country featuring in this series include:

  • Hear the country’s only one handed professional pianist perform a specialist concerto for the first time in over 60 years. (Inside Out East)
  • Jungle Queen – ex-Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison soaks up the glory of her I’m a Celebrity win. (Inside Out North East and Cumbria)
  • Star Wars – hear why one of the key designers from the original star wars abandoned the Hollywood glamour to live in virtual obscurity in Cheltenham. (Inside Out West)

“Inside Out has been so successful because it produces fantastic journalism that brings viewers to the heart of the issues that matter in their community each week.

“Over the next nine weeks, be prepared to hear about untold events and characters that have shaped the past, ongoing issues, and significant developments that will influence the future.

“As we enter the 14th year of Inside Out on our screens, its role uncovering big stories and exploring the issues viewers care about is as vital as ever.”

Each edition is hosted by a different presenter in each region.

This series will also include contributions from some of the UK’s favourite TV personalities, including Angela Rippon and Quentin Willson, who will help to tell the untold stories of each region’s communities, economies, heritage, history and wildlife.
