Durham Cathedral is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new scheme designed to encourage young professionals to support the work of the Cathedral in May 2015.

The Young Patron programme has been designed to appeal to a new generation of supporters who love the Cathedral and are looking for unique cultural and heritage experiences. In return Young Patrons will help Durham Cathedral meet the challenges of preserving this wonderful building’s cultural, social and historic heritage while sharing special occasions with an incredible network of people of a similar age, who love Durham Cathedral as much as they do.

.

Young Patrons will be able to experience an exclusive programme of events from behind the scenes tours to special film screenings in the Bell Tower. There will also be opportunities throughout the year to enjoy special access to curators, artists, academics and heritage specialists, and receive invitations to book launches, private views, talks and lectures. Other benefits include: discount in the Cathedral Shop and Undercroft Restaurant, an annual Young Patrons’ Party, plus offers and exclusive invitations from some of the Cathedral’s partner organisations.

For just £5 per month, Young Patrons will be playing a vital part in preserving and promoting the Cathedral’s buildings and collections for many generations to come. Durham Cathedral doesn’t receive any regular statutory funding and therefore relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to care for its buildings, collections and riverbanks.

Invitations will be sent out shortly, and we would love you to join us for The Young Patron launch, sponsored by Handelsbanken on Thursday 21st May 6:30 – 9pm.

The evening is an opportunity to enjoy the Cathedral and cloisters by night, meet staff and explore the benefits in becoming a Young Patron and hear about the exciting plans Durham Cathedral has in store in the coming months.

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone you feel would be interested and we look forward to seeing you on the 21st May.
