More Retailers Open in the Metrocentre
Metrocentre has seen some new faces pop up recently as both independent retailers and national stores open their doors.
The Village has seen some new independent stores opening in the past month, including Yankee Doodle Candy which is a new venture for businessman Ian Philpott who also operates the extremely popular chain of milkshake stores Shakeaholic. The new store will stock only confectionary items that are popular brands in the US.
PCJ Home Supplies specialise in quality yet affordable duvet sets, ready made curtains and cushion covers at a competitive price, and Pret a Vie are also newcomers to The Village selling beautiful baby wear for ages 0 to 3 years old.
Green Mall has also seen some large retailers open their doors recently; kitchen and homeware specialist store Lakeland opened its doors last week, as well as large electronics retailer Currys, who have joined with PC World to offer an even better choice of electronic goods.
More new arrivals in the Green Mall include Greenwoods Menswear, providing casual menswear items at a reasonable cost, and the ability to hire formalwear. Grid has also recently opened its doors selling extreme sports wear, and Lexi, who supply ladies fashion at affordable prices.
Other newcomers to the Centre include Eduardo Pelle (ltalian Leather Specialist), Baguette Express and Simply Be and Jacamo which are the first stores in the North East.
Look out for further new arrivals in coming weeks including H&M Kids, Deichmann, and Garage Shoes.
Work is also well underway at the Centre’s new catering development MetrOasis which is due to open this September. Hoardings are coming down and shoppers can now see the building taking shape.
The development will see some exciting names launched; some exclusive to the North East including Harvester restaurant, the first time the company has built a new-build Harvester in the region. Toby Carvery are also joining the scheme, plus Starbucks will open a stand alone drive-thru, another first for the area. To add to the list of firsts, Metrocentre have the highly renowned Krispy Kreme who will be opening their 50th UK store, which will offer a drive-thru and feature their famous ‘Doughnut Theatre’.
