safestanding - Newcastle Fans 'Safe Standing' Roadshow 2nd February 2013

I would like to take this opportunity to formally invite you to attend the Safe Standing Roadshow that is taking place at the Number 9 Bar (opposite Aspers Casino) on Stowell St from 11am on Saturday 2nd February 2013.

The event has been organised by supporters of Newcastle United and is arranged as a double-bill event: comprising firstly of a closed presentation and demonstration for club officials, sponsors, local politicians, the emergency services, press and selected guests and later from 12.30pm as an open house for fans.

The purpose of the event is to inform attendees about the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) calling for clubs currently with all-seater grounds to be permitted, subject to appropriate new regulations, to create – if they wish – designated areas for safe standing in their stadium.

The FSF has been playing a leading role in the campaign for safe standing for many years now and has been instrumental in encouraging MPs like Don Foster to take up this campaign to allow football fans of tier 1 and tier 2 clubs to enjoy the same right to support their teams from a standing position as their brothers and sisters have at lower league clubs, at rugby clubs and even at cricket clubs – not to mention rock fans at concerts in the very stadia where standing is banned for football games!

As supporters of Newcastle United we want to ensure that all who have an interest are provided with as much information as possible about Safe Standing and how it could be introduced, as well as being given the opportunity to hear the views of others so that they can shape their own opinions on the subject.

For our part we will soon be opening an online poll to enable the opinion of as many supporters as possible to be gathered and we will naturally feed this information back to all who have an interest in its results.

We will be the fifth set of premier league club supporters to commission this road show in the last few months and I promise all who attend a warm and gracious welcome; befitting of premier fans of a premier club.

Hope to see you on the day

Steve Hastie

Fantastic and long overdue! Would love to see the whole of the Gallowgate as one large safe standing area or at least the light grey seats/lower tear! as they have in Dortmund!! Imagine the noise! Deafening and will take us back to the noise produced under the roofi in the old Leazes End! But much more safe!
Will also prevent those who wish to sit from having their enjoyment spoiled or impared. Give us a choice that we fans deserve. If they can do it in Germany and Rugby League o even at a gig watching bloody Take That then WHY NOT IN THE ENGLISH PREMIER LAGUE!!!!!
