North East Dog Competition is a Barking Success!

We launched a North East Dog Competition on the back of Crufts in March and the final was held down Roker Beach on Saturday 27th April.

The 6 dog finalists each walked away with amazing prizes all donated by local businesses! Dog owners were asked to submit their entries by facebook with a photo and description of why their pooch should win. The voting was then opened to the public to vote for their favourites. Over 100 dogs entered, 2000 votes cast and over £500 in prizes was raised from local businesses.

The 6 finalists were Bailey (Lanchester), Maddy (Middlesbrough), Luna, Chewie, Zak (all three from Newcastle) and Elvis (Gateshead). Several local businesses donated dog prizes to a total worth over £600. Prizes up for grabs included: dog photography sessions, a weekend activity break, a new dog kennel, personalised dog collars, gift cards, dog hampers, dog beds and many more!

The 3 judges, Celebrity Chef Stacie Stewart, Andrea Parkin from Charity Animal Krackers and Debbie Simpson from Sunderland BIC had a very tough decision. In the end they crowned Bailey from Boxer Dog Rescue Northern England (BDNE) as the winner! Bailey walked away with £200 worth of prizes including a dog photography session, personalised dog collar and a hamper of goodies. All 5 other finalists came away with great prizes too!
