PIMM Productions Ltd, a small independent film production company based in the Darlington area, are looking at making a full-length feature called ‘Acceptance’ – a dark, funny, moving, thought-provoking drama – to be shot predominantly in the North East.
The story focuses on Paul Hodgson, disabled as a result of childhood meningitis.
The trailer premiered in 2011 at Darlington Football Club where it was well-received. It can also be viewed online here Darlo Til I Die Concept Trailer.
Since then, directors Paul Hodgson, Ian Carter, Mike Jarvie and Margaret Collins have been actively promoting the film. Durham MEP Stephen Hughes, who attended the premiere, has embraced the project, and invited Paul and Ian, together with Film Director Dan Perry, to the EU Parliament in Brussels to meet representatives of both the Arts and Disability committees. The visit took place on the 14th and 15th of May.
Ian commented, “As far as I know, we were the first film production company to be invited to the EU Parliament, so in many ways, it was a great honour.”
Paul added, “The two issues I particularly wished to address during our visit were general funding opportunities for the film businesses within the EU and, more importantly, encouraging disabled people to become involved in the film industry.”
Attached to the feature are: Bill Fellows (Downton Abbey), Tracey Wilkinson (Bad Girls), Mark Stobbart (55 Degrees North) and Jamie Baxter (Emmerdale).
