northumberland live 2017 - FREE Family Music Festival, Blyth Beach, 24th June

After almost a year in the planning, Blyth beach is about to be transformed into the County’s biggest free family festival. With something for the whole family, this weekend, Blyth is the place to be.

The Northumberland Live Festival at Blyth on June 24th will see The Undertones headline playing timeless classics including; ‘Here Comes the Summer’, ‘Jimmy Jimmy’, “My Perfect Cousin” and the power pop anthem “Teenage Kicks.”

In support to The Undertones will be new wave power pop band, Cryssis, who regularly pack out stadiums in their base country of Germany.

Add to this local talent in the form of Ashington singer song writer Peesh, Durham based pop rock band, Twister and up and coming new alternative indie band Pacific who are tipped for the top. Also on the bill will be The Real Gone Gadgies,  Arieanne Masters, The Exciters,  Endless Sky and Little Moth. There will also be performances from Bad Apples hip hop crew, Blyth Samba and a few surprises too.

As well as the musical attractions, the Festival will have its much looked forward to array of street theatre, superb food from the counties finest food suppliers and a family activity area which will keep all ages entertained. Also dropping in will be the Royal Logistics Corps Parachute Display Team, The Silver Stars who will perform daredevil maneuvers as they descend onto the beach area.

The fun starts at 10am and will continue until around 9pm. Parking is limited on site and a free park and ride service will be in operation run by Phoenix Taxis from the library in Blyth town centre.

In addition, parking will be available free, near to the event just off the A193 Links Road.  Motorists should follow the event parking signs. There is also a disabled viewing platform this year situated between the beach huts. This has been kindly sponsored by Transped of Blyth and the Port of Blyth.

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Blyth Town Council.

Kath Nisbet, Chair of the Events Committee said; “The event team has had a very busy week on the run up to the festival, There’s a wealth of planning that still needs to be done before the event starts and they’ve been working on this since last year’s event ended. Everyone is urged to come down early with the family and enjoy the atmosphere and great music.

“To have 15,000 people enjoying themselves at a free family festival in Blyth is great for everyone and we are looking forward to another very successful event that will once again put the town firmly on the map as the place to go for a good family day out.”
