Reindeer Ride Competition Launches In STOCKTON
TWO lucky school children will get the chance to ride a sleigh pulled by real reindeer in the Stockton Sparkles competition launched today (30 October) as the plans for the festive fun in the town are revealed.
The annual Reindeer Parade takes place on Sunday 16 December at 2pm on Stockton High Street with Santa and his helpers and the search is now on for two children aged between 5 – 10 years who will sit beside Santa in this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Entry forms are available at www.stockton.gov.uk/ and in the Rediscover Stockton shop on the town’s High Street. The competition is one simple question and correct entries will then be put into a hat and the first two pulled out will be the winners.
There are a host of other festive treats in Stockton over the Christmas period including the official light switch on which takes place on Thursday, 29 November, 5 – 7pm, a giant snow globe on Saturday, 1 December in Dovecot Street and the Christmas market from Thursday, 6 – Sunday 9 December in Parish Church Gardens.
There will also be amazing ice sculptures created in Parish Church Gardens as well as arts and crafts activities and carol singers.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture said: “We have a fantastic reputation for events here in Stockton and this Christmas promises to be our best ever Sparkles celebration. There will be something to enjoy in the town centre all through the festive season, from our usual exciting light switch on to the fun of a walk-in snow globe. Our festive fun will help bring people in to the town and let them see how Stockton celebrates Christmas in real style.”
