Love Food? Love the seaside? Ready for something new? Then get your taste buds prepped – Tynemouth Food Festival is here!
Tynemouth Food Festival will again be serving up a fabulous feast of gastronomic fare following its spectacular debut last year when more than 18,000 people descended on the picturesque seaside village just 10 miles from Newcastle over the course of the main two-day weekend.
And food lovers can expect a double-sized helping of tasty treats this year as this celebration of the region’s culinary heritage brings together even more local celebrity chefs, producers and gourmet fringe happenings from pop-up restaurants to more than 40 local producer stalls, a street food area, chef demos, a 1940s-style tea dance, real ale festival, culinary-inspired kiddies’ entertainment and cooking competitions.
So bring along your shopping bags, baskets and an appetite for the best food and drink the North East has to offer as Tynemouth’s streets fill with everything from artisan breads to cheeses, cakes, organic meats, pies, jams, gourmet chocolates, wine and local ales.
Why not make a weekend of it and stay in one of the beautiful guesthouses on Front Street. Take in the sights of Tynemouth’s sweeping coastline and visit its ancient castle and priory. Enjoy this historic village with its independent gift shops, boutiques, cafes, pubs, restaurants and Tynemouth Station’s famous weekend market.
The festival will take place in Queen Victoria Park, The King’s School grounds, Tynemouth Station and other venues across the village.
Main Tynemouth Food Festival weekend Saturday May 11, 9am-6pm and Sunday May 12, 10am-4pm
Hey, I’m glad I get these articles from the north east hub. I live right on the doorstep, and I wasn’t aware of the festival this weekend – slap on wrist for the organisers! Sounds like a great idea; I’ll certainly pop along if it’s anything like the other events Tynemouth has hosted in the past.
Glad you like our posts. Donna 🙂
