Money Saving Queen Ashleigh Swan, 25 from Newcastle, has become a firm favourite with people on facebook with her money-saving page boasting over 40,000 likes. Posting links to vouchers, deals and more. We caught up with her to find out more…
Why did you set up the facebook page?
“I love seeing how much money I can save and have always looked for offers and bargains before making a purchase. I started informing friends and family of good offers I’d find and one friend suggested I make a page so I could share the offers with others. I done just that and now I am about to hit 40,000 likes! I never expected it to take off like it has.”
What are your aims?
“I want to show people you don’t need to pay full price for anything. It’s fantastic receiving messages from some of my page fans telling me how grateful they are and how much money they have saved by following my tips…I have also promoted local businesses in Newcastle because I think it’s great to support your high-street.”
Why do you think it has been so successful?
“Everyone has had to make cutbacks but i have shown people how you can afford to live and still have luxuries. I have introduced a lot of people to cashback sites which seem to have been very popular as they didn’t realise you could earn money while spending!”
“I also encourage page fans to post offers they find so we can all get involved and have made some great friends through the page.”
What does the future hold for the page?
“I would love to have a website and an app but because I do all this for free in my spare time I just don’t have the time or the money…the page is growing every day to the point where I now have 5 fantastic admin helping me out who are also into bargain hunting.”
