A team of documentary makers have launched a second wave of crowd funding as they head towards post-production on their film about Newcastle’s legendary 80s and 90s music venue, RIVERSIDE.

.
The film, RIVERSIDE: SONGS AND STORIES will tell the story of the venue from its eary days using a mix of interviews with musicians who played, people who attended and worked there and archive footage.
.
RIVERSIDE, which opened as a co-operative in 1985, hosted many era-defining bands in its time, including Nirvana’s first European show in 1989, and artists looking for an intimate show, such as David Bowie who played in 1997. The venue closed in 1999.
.
A first stage of crowd funding has already been successful, raising $5,000 to send a crew out to film key interviews in the States. The team is now raising funds for post-production costs while simultaneously shooting final interviews locally.
.
Their new crowdfunding site on indiegogo.com features a film teaser with new interview footage including Thurston Moore, Ian MacKaye, Peter Hook, Tanya Donelly and Michelle Shocked.
.
They are asking backers to claim a range of perks, including limited edition t-shirts, books and original prints and a place on an exclusive walking tour of Newcastle’s music scene hosted by the film makers.
.
The crowd funder is also an appeal for two Associate Producers to come on board.
.
Producer Hazel Plater says, “These two people would be fully credited as Associate Producers on the film, would receive a range of perks and a VIP invite to the premiere of the film. Take up of these contributions of £5,000 would allow us to procure the services of an experienced editor and complete post-production work on the film. Any extra funds raised and not used on editing, will begin the process of licensing archive footage and obtaining some of the music publishing rights, which we will need to clear for worldwide release.”
 .
The Director and Producers are working unsalaried on the film – it is clearly a labour of love, just like the venue itself was.
.
The campaign runs until 13th July, although some perks have already been claimed. Visit  http://igg.me/at/rivfilm/x/451115 for more information and to back the film.
