This year’s Sunderland International Airshow will be supported by Sunderland Live’s team of dedicated volunteers throughout the weekend. The volunteer team includes students from Sunderland College and Sunderland Pastors in addition to many individuals giving up their time for free to support this year’s event. The team will be helping out by providing key information to the public.
Sunderland Live, the company responsible for arranging some of the city’s biggest events, worked with Sunderland College to recruit volunteers to for this event, 26-28th July 2013.
Anne Isherwood, principal of Sunderland College, said: “Sunderland Airshow is a fantastic event that many people in the city, and the whole of the North East, look forward to each year.
“As a key part of the community we at Sunderland College are hugely excited about being involved for the first time during the airshow’s milestone 25th birthday year.
“Many of our students have attended the airshow throughout their lives and I know it means a lot to them to take part as volunteers.
“They will be supporting visitors, directing them to where they want to be, acting as parking attendants and sharing their knowledge of Sunderland.
“Their willingness to give up their time to get involved is a reflection of the city’s spirit as a whole and a credit to our students.”
Sunderland Live deliver and develop events in the city such as Sunderland Festival and the Vintage and Retro Festival as well as Sunderland International Airshow which celebrates its 25th anniversary later this month.
